RICHARD GLOVER QC MEDIATION PROFILE 

Richard Glover QC specialises in all aspects of town and country planning, local government, rating, compulsory purchase and compensation law, administrative, environmental, parliamentary and election law.  He has wide experience of all courts (from the House of Lords down) and an extensive range of tribunals and inquiries and is recognised as one of the leading juniors in all aspects of land valuation, having been involved in most of the major rating valuation cases (here and in Hong Kong) and numerous compensation cases (including Optical Express which broke new ground in the valuation of business disturbance).  He has also been involved in a number of major development schemes from the Channel Tunnel to the Olympic CPO (which he promoted with other members of Chambers).  He has acted in both mediation and other alternative dispute resolution procedures and is himself an accredited mediator.

  • The Olympics CPO.
  • Harrods v. Baker (VO) - the valuation of the department store for rating.
  • Advising infrastructure operators (including electricity undertakings, telephone companies, gas undertakings and ports) both here and in Hong Kong on their rating assessments.
  • Advising the LDA on compensation matters arising out of the Olympic CPO.
  • Advising the NWDA on compensation matters arising out of a large CPO in Manchester.
  • Gallagher v. Church of the Latter-day Saints in the House of Lords.
