MEDIATION IN PLANNING - NEW PUBLICATION
"Mediation in Planning - a short guide" has recently been published by the National Planning Forum. The document provides helpful guidance on using mediation as a tool for resolving or reducing differences and producing better outcomes from the planning system. The document, which has been endorsed by Bob Neil MP, Minister for Planning, is in response to one of the recommendations of the Mediation in Planning Report by Leonora Rozee OBE and Kay Powell. The publication of the guide coincides with the work being carried on by the Mediation in Planning Delivery Project (chaired by Leonora Rozee OBE) set up to implement the recommendations of the Mediation in Planning Report. The Delivery Project has recently commenced 4 Local Planning Authority pilot schemes which will integrate mediation in the way that suits their area and liaise and report on their experience in this alternative approach to planning.
Craig Howell Williams QC, a member of FTB's Mediation Group, is assisting the Delivery Project and is a qualified accredited CEDR mediator. To find more information on mediation or to see details of the FTB Mediation Group and its members, please click here.
