HINKLEY POINT C: JETTY INQUIRY
The public inquiry into EDF Energy's proposal to construct a temporary jetty and associated onshore infrastructure (sand and aggregate storage and cement silos) to facilitate the construction of its proposed new nuclear power station at Hinkley Point in Somerset has now closed. The jetty would allow at least 80% of the bulk materials required for concrete production for the new power station to be brought to the site by sea rather than by road.
EDF Energy has applied for a Harbour Empowerment Order, a Transport and Works Act Order, and Marine Licences to enable the jetty and associated infrastructure to be constructed and operated in advance of any decision on its separate application to the IPC for a Development Consent Order for the main project.
Hereward Phillpot appeared on behalf of EDF Energy, instructed by Eversheds, and led by Christopher Katkowski QC.
