OLYMPIA HOTEL GRANTED
The Secretary of State has granted permission, following a public inquiry, for a 300 room apart-hotel on a vacant site within the Olympia complex. The proposal, which was called in by Secretary of State for his own determination, involved a contemporary building to be located on a sensitive site within a conservation area and adjacent to several listed buildings including the Olympia Exhibition Halls. The Inspector and Secretary of State concluded that the proposal would enhance the conservation area and the setting of the neighbouring listed buildings.
Douglas Edwards appeared for the successful applicants, instructed by Nick Green of Savills. Alex Booth appeared for LB Hammersmith and Fulham who supported the proposal.
