CROXLEY TOWN GREEN

An inspector appointed by Hertfordshire County Council under the Commons Registration Act 1965 has recommended that a substantial area of land at Croxley, Hertfordshire should be registered as a town green. The land comprised mainly woodland and open areas and was located adjacent to the Grand Union Canal and the Metropolitan Line railway. It was claimed by local residents to have been used for sports and pastimes for many years. The landowners, which included London Underground Limited, opposed the application and a contested inquiry was held in March 2007. The Inspector's report includes interesting observations and conclusions on the effect of dilapidated fencing on the quality of use by subsequent users.

Douglas Edwards appeared for the applicants and was instructed by Matthew Barnes of Friedman Sharman and Co., Solicitors of Borehamwood, Herts.
